Kuratorenführung V mit Thomas Eller (in English): “The material rhetoric of resistance in artistic production in a Chinese and Western cultural context”

Did you ever wonder why precious materials like marble, porcelain, etc. are so widely used in the context of Chinese artistic production today?! In which way do material sensibilities differ between Western artists and their Chinese counterparts, and what does that express?! If one considers our estimation of materials as a direct physical expression of our own body image – what can we learn about ourselves from artists working in an environment of different cultural heritage? The talk will be given in English.
